Slow Food Cycle Sunday
Celebrating 20 years in 2025!
Pedal, Taste, Connect.
A Celebration of Farming, Food & Community.
Slow Food Cycle Sunday, presented by Pemberton Valley Supermarket, is one of the most beloved events in the Sea-to-Sky. On the third Sunday of August each year, locals and visitors gather in the Pemberton Meadows for a pedal-powered celebration of local farming, food, and community. Cyclists are invited to cruise the 40-kilometre round-trip route along Pemberton Meadows Road, stopping at farms to enjoy local produce, artisans, live music and connecting with each other.
Created in the spirit of sustainability, slow food, and fun, this event celebrates the land and the people who grow on it. Ride as much or as little as you'd like.
We are incredibly excited to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Slow Food Cycle Sunday in 2025!

Where the roots began…
Slow Food Cycle Sunday was founded in 2005 and started by Anna Helmer and Lisa Richardson, two Pemberton residents concerned that irreplaceable farmland is under constant development pressures. The bike ride is a way to inform people of the importance of farmland, to give townspeople an opportunity to spend the day in the country and to give farmers and consumers a chance to connect.
“It’s Pemberton’s own Moveable Feast,” says Lisa. “The ride is slow and social, it’s like a street party, gorgeous scenery, all kinds of bikes, lots of families, all kinds of fashion from bikini tops to spandex, all kinds of bikes from cruisers to tandems to downhill rigs”.
2015 marked the first year the Slow Food Cycle was officially produced by Tourism Pemberton.
Event Information
-
Each year the route starts just north west of the Village of Pemberton and extends into the Pemberton Meadows (20km each way).
This is a self-paced day. The entire day runs from 9 AM to 3 PM, but each rider will choose how long or short to make their day. Depending on how fast (or slow) you ride expect to take a least one hour to ride the route from the Village of Pemberton to the last vendor location. Of course, you don’t have to ride the entire route and can make as many stops as you like along the wait.

Bring a bike helmet, food and water, and some cash for purchases.
Sunscreen, sunglasses and comfortable bike riding clothes are also highly recommended.
If you have bike panniers or a basket for your bike or a bike trailer bring those too to carry anything you purchase along the way.
Please leave your dog at home, it is stressful for the livestock and can be overwhelming for your animal to encounter 2000 to 3000 participants. Our valley is also well-known for high temperature in August and the paved road can be extremely hot for their paws.
Each farm opens to the public, and food is part of the day. However, there is no guarantee of food at any stop. You will need to bring your own water and snacks to be certain to stay hydrated and fueled. That said, this event is known for its incredible food. The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have of enjoying the delicious cuisine available.

We love dogs — but not at this event. For their safety and the livestock’s, leave your furry friend at home.Plan Your Distance
The full ride can be up to 40km round trip. Consider your pace, the heat, and especially younger riders. There’s no requirement to bike the whole distance - this event is designed for everyone to enjoy.Helmets Required
It’s the law in BC, and it’s smart. Bring your helmet, wear it right, and ride safe. -
Once again this year, in the interest of participant safety, Pemberton Meadows Road will be closed to vehicle traffic from 10 am – 3 pm on Sunday, August 17 for the Slow Food Cycle Sunday event. The road will remain open for slow-moving farm vehicles.
From 9 am-10 am and from 3 pm onward the road will be shared by vehicle traffic and bike traffic. The speed limit along Pemberton Meadows Road will be reduced to 30 km/hr. Please share the road and respect each other’s goals to ensure a fun and safe day for all.
